In this project, the relationship between the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) and the shape of the nuclei (prolate-oblate) of the odd-A deformed 169-189W, 169-189Re, 173-193Os, 173-193Ir, 177-197Pt and 177-197Aunuclei (W-Os-Pt region) located in the transition region of the periodic table was investigated for the first time using the Translational and Galileo Invariant Quasiparticle Phonon Nuclear Model (TGI-QPNM). The cross sections of the odd-A nuclei 185,187Re, 189Os, 191,193Ir, 195Pt and 197Au , whose photo-absorption cross sections were determined by various experimental techniques, were calculated with TGI-QPNM and the obtained results were compared with the available experimental data.
The photo-absorption cross-sections calculated with TGI-QPNM for the considered odd-A nuclei and the kth moment (σ-2, σ-1 ve σ0)of the total photo-absorption cross-sections agree with the available experimental data. The obtained results showed changes in the photo-absorption cross-section resonance shape of the odd-A 169-189W, 169-189Re,173-193Ir and 177-197Pt isotope chains. While no change was observed in the resonance shape of the 173-193Os isotope chain, the 177-197Au isotope chain exhibited a single-peak structure.
